Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) is an evolved process of platelet-rich plasma (PRP), both of which can be used to rejuvenate skin and hair growth.
PRF is made from your own blood, drawn at the time of your appointment and spun to extract a protein matrix called fibrin. Fibrin consists of a high concentration of white blood cells and stem cells which contain growth factors.
PRF injections can be used to stimulate healing, which forces the skin to generate collagen and elastin. PRF can be used to volumize fine lines, and is commonly used in the under-eye area in conjunction with, or as an alternative to, dermal fillers.
While both can be beneficial in hair restoration and skin rejuvenation, PRF tends to produce longer lasting results.
Both require blood to be drawn, however differences in plasma preparation allow PRF to release more growth-factors as its platelet count is ultimately higher than with PRP. This leads to further regeneration of stem cells – leaving you with tighter, brighter, more youthful skin.
