Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) is an evolved process of platelet-rich plasma (PRP), both of which can be used to rejuvenate skin and stimulate hair growth.

PRF is made from your own blood, drawn at the time of your appointment and spun to extract a protein matrix called fibrin. Fibrin consists of a high concentration of white blood cells and stem cells which contain growth factors.

PRF injections can be used to stimulate healing, which forces the skin to generate collagen and elastin. PRF can be used to volumize fine lines, and is commonly used in the under-eye area in conjunction with, or as an alternative to, dermal fillers.

While both can be beneficial in hair restoration and skin rejuvenation, PRF tends to produce longer lasting results.

Both require blood to be drawn, however differences in the preparation allow PRF to release more growth-factors as its platelet count is ultimately higher than with PRP, which leads to the further regeneration of stem cells.

Innately, within our body, platelets are the cells which assist in the healing process. When we injure a part of the body, these automatically migrate to the site of injury, initiating a healing response by releasing numerous growth factors and other proteins.

By directly providing a rich source of enhanced plasma into an injured site, we provide more healing factors,
enhancing the body’s natural healing capacity. This leads to a more efficient and thorough restoration of the tissue to a healthy state.

Platelet Rich Fibrin Injections are popularly used for patients looking to restore hair loss. They are used in cosmetic procedures such as  the Vampire Facial. We use this treatment as an adjunct to micro-needling to promote increased collagen production and overall
skin improvement.

  • Facial Rejuvenation
  • Skin Rejuvenation (Neck & Hands)
  • Fine Lines & Wrinkles
  • Sun Damage
  • “Tennis” Elbow
  • Knee Pain – Patellar Tendinitis
  • Foot Pain – Plantar Fasciitis
  • Stretch Marks
  • Poor Texture

PRF is administered via injection. Depending on the site/treatment we may pair with microneedling.

PRF for the scalp/hair restoration is used in combination with microneedling.

For fine lines, wrinkles, or facial skin rejuvenation we also have the option to pair PRF with dermal fillers.

Overall, there is significant variability in the technique we use for individual patients depending upon end result we are looking for.

Since enhanced plasma originates from a concentrate of your own blood, safety concerns are minimal. As with any injection, sterile technique is used to avoid infection.

Following one treatment you most likely will see results, however, 3 treatments spaced 5-6 weeks apart is recommended.

The treated area will improve over the next several months. Annual maintenance may be of benefit as the natural aging process continues.
