Who are the suitable candidates for this medication? Anyone above age 18, diagnosed with diabetes, who is not pregnant can be approved for it (insurance may or may not cover costs).

How often is it administered? Mounjaro is a weekly injection

What is the dosing? 2.5 mg a week for the first four weeks. If tolerated well, patients can then increase the dose beyond the 4 weeks.

Any special precautions for those with kidney disease? This medication can lead to worsening kidney function, so they need close monitoring.

How does it work? It acts by mimicking two proteins produced in our body, making the body control blood sugar better- GLP 1 and GIP agonist.

How much weight  are patients losing? They are losing on average 15 to 20% of their starting weight!

Can it be used with Adipex and other weight loss medications? Yes, we can use them with Adipex or other weight loss medications but that is determined on an individual basis.
