Microneedling, also known as Collagen Induction Therapy or dermarolling, with a Collagen PEN, is a method of introducing a controlled wound into the skin, triggering a release of natural growth factors, new collagen and elastin. We are proud to serve clients in Indianapolis, Fishers, Carmel and surrounding areas.
This process causes much less damage to the epidermis than dermal rolling, lasers or other ablative treatments. Microneedling stimulates new skin cell growth, providing for quicker healing, higher success rate and longer lasting results.
Microneedling is great for those with uneven skin texture and pigmentation, acne scarring and more. Clients can also expect to see a lifted, tightened appearance as a result.
Microneedling activates cellular regeneration to help tighten and lift skin, while minimizing common skin problems such as:
- Acne scars
- Fine lines
- Dull skin
- Improve texture
- Stretch marks
- Decrease Acne Scars
- Increase Collagen
- Stimulate Hair Growth
- Improve Skin Tone
Microneedling (also known as Percutaneous Collagen Induction Therapy or PCIT) is an innovation in aesthetic medicine to treat fine lines, acne scars, and overall skin appearance improvement. During this procedure, tiny needles create controlled micro-injuries to the skin to encourage the skin proteins collagen and elastin production. The skin’s repair process results in a thicker dermis with the appearance of softer wrinkles. Automated micro-needling also creates superficial micro-channels, which allow topical serums and creams to be absorbed more effectively into the skin.
Microneedling can safely treat all skin types to address a variety of concerns. Most of all areas of the body can be treated unless your
medical provider determines otherwise.
Typically a series of three to six treatments is recommended, depending upon your area of correction or concern. Your skin care professional will ultimately determine a treatment schedule based on your individual goals and desires. Treatments are usually spaced in four week intervals. Patients with deep wrinkles, advanced sun damage, stretch marks or any type of scars usually require four to eight sessions or more to achieve the desired results.
A sterile needle-tip containing tiny micro-needles is attached to the microneedling device. Your skincare professional will apply a thin layer of topical serum to your skin and select the appropriate treatment depth based on your unique needs. Next, in a single motion, the microneedling device will gently glide across the skin in one direction until the entire treatment area has been covered. This creates thousands of microscopic channels throughout the entire treatment area.
Before your treatment, the medical provider will apply a topical numbing agent. A majority of patients report feeling very little to no pain at all once the agent has been applied.
Results are produced through stimulation of growth factors and collagen, which promotes the production of new skin cells.. As our skin ages, our collagen production naturally slows down. New collagen and elastin formation has been documented to still be present as much as year after this procedure.
A majority of patients see results just after one to two treatments. Individual results vary depending on individual skin health. Most commonly, patients report seeing positive changes as soon as one to two weeks after treatment. However, change is normally noted within a few days.
There is no downtime. Immediately after your treatment your skin will look red and will feel like sun burn. Post treatment skincare will be provided after the treatment, which will help you with the redness. **For more information, please schedule a free consultation with our experts to determine the right treatment for you!
